The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect in October 2006 and consolidated all fire safety legislation for non-domestic premises into a single Order. The Order applies to virtually all premises and covers nearly every type of building, structure and open space. The new fire law means that businesses themselves, must take responsibility for carrying out fire risk assessments on their premises.
