Diploma in Display Energy Certificates (DipDEC L3)Details: For the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Display Energy Certificates (DECs) will need to be in place in many public buildings from October 2008. Public authorities, and institutions providing public services who occupy buildings which are frequently visited by the public must display a certificate showing the energy performance of the building. These regulations currently only apply to buildings where the floor area exceeds 1000m2. DECs provide information to visitors about the energy performance of these buildings. The purpose of DECs is to raise awareness of energy use in public buildings. Moreover, over a period of time it will allow public authorities to show the benefit of the measures they are undertaking to reduce their environmental impact. Advisory Reports that accompany the DECs help the authorities in this regard. The Advisory Report features a range of possible methods that may be implemented to improve the energy performance of the assessed property. Display Energy Certificates and Advisory Reports can only be prepared by qualified and accredited Public Buildings Energy Assessors.
