Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) has introduced a requirement for building air conditioning systems to be inspected for energy efficiency. This legislation came into effect for systems with effective cooling of over 250kW in January 2009 and will apply to numerous systems with effective cooling of over 12kW from January 2011. Air conditioning systems in buildings are significant users of energy. Improving efficiency in these systems is important element of the EU's strategy for tackling climate change. Air conditioning energy efficiency reports cannot be produced by any assessor. These reports MUST be prepared by accredited assessors.

National Energy Consultants is broadening its highly regarded programme of Energy Assessor training to include this new opportunity in the Non-Domestic (commercial) buildings division.

Level 3 Diploma Air Conditioning Energy Assessment

Level 3 encompasses air conditioning energy assessments on unitary, simple and multi split packaged and simple VRF/VRV air conditioning plant, equipments and systems.

The focus during this 3 day Diploma Air Conditioning Energy Assessment course is on key issues that will need to be considered whilst collecting information and preparing reports on packaged systems. Throughout the training, classroom learning is supported by hands on sessions as required. This will enable you to inspect packaged systems and develop inspection and reporting skills.

Programme:

• Overview of legislation and the requirements for air conditioning inspection
• Theory of Refrigeration System, Thermodynamics and properties of refrigerants
• System faults and fault-finding
• Air Conditioning Systems/Equipment
• The inspection methodology
• The reporting software
• Developing recommendations and producing the report
• Practical case study exercises

After the training's completion you will get into a period of assessment where you will illusstrate the practical know how of the skills you have gained. You will produce evidence of your capability to practise competently as an Air-Conditioning Systems Energy Assessor. You will demonstrate that you have gained the full array of skills and knowledge necessary to undertake air-conditioning energy assessments. You will also need to submit these for formal assessment.

Level 4 Diploma Air Conditioning Energy Assessment

Level 4 Diploma Air Conditioning Energy Assessment covers energy assessments of large centralised air conditioning plant, equipment and systems.  Level 4 assessors are qualified to inspect and report on packaged air conditioning systems.

The focus during this 5 day course is on key issues that will need to be considered whilst collecting information and preparing reports on complex, centralised plant air conditioning systems, and packaged air conditioning systems.

The course covers case study material and classroom exercises to help you develop a methodical approach to the inspection of building air conditioning systems. Case study exercises enables you to develop inspection and reporting skills.
